“All was absolutely perfect, many thanks again for everything!”

KG, London (Sep 2014)

“I had the most amazing time in the Dominican Republic… thank you very much for everything that you have done regarding my trip!  I had no idea what sort of thing I wanted to do when I first phoned up and was given a number of appealing options with detailed descriptions.  Any further information was readily available and Caledonia were always helpful and kind on the phone.  The information that I received on arrival was good as well.  A small welcome pack told me everything that I would need to know and the student liaison gave me a tour of the town on my first day and even took me to Cabarete (the next town).  I would never have made this on my own and this help, which was beyond the call of duty, was very welcome!

The school was perfect.  Close enough to town and both beaches on Sosua that any trip was very easy whilst being secluded enough that it was nice and quiet.  The school itself was very simple, something which I greatly appreciated and felt was in-keeping with local culture.  The school grounds were absolutely perfect for just lounging around as well.

I greatly enjoyed my Spanish lessons!  Loved the teaching style which put much more emphasis on being able to speak the language than getting bogged down with tons of grammar initially.  Once I had a greater grasp of the language, [the teacher] explained grammar simply and clearly and I was able to learn very quickly.  The school was also very helpful and made no fuss about moving students up or down classes according to their level which was fantastic and enabled me to learn very quickly with students of similar ability.

I really enjoyed my kite surfing.  The lessons were very flexible and I could take them whenever I wanted… and my instructor was very kind and patient.  I absolutely loved all of the excursions organised by the school, particularly going to the waterfalls at Imbert.  [school liaison] was very good at choosing activities which everyone would enjoy and was always happy and lively during the excursions which kept a light and happy tone throughout.

I was very happy with my accommodation.  I was in the school apartment which was very spacious and comfortable and I liked living with all the other students especially and that made organising evening activities very easy.

I absolutely loved my trip and it’s hard to identify one particular highlight but I loved the excursions, particularly the aforementioned trip to the waterfalls and the trip to Playa Grande.  I thought the trip was excellent value for money.  The accommodation was well priced and nicer than nearly every alternative and I was very happy with my lessons.  The care provided by each and every member of the school was kind, attentive and often up and beyond the call of duty.  I would definitely recommend Caledonia to a friend.  I have so far done 2 courses through Caledonia and have thoroughly enjoyed both!”
